OPERATIONS MANAGER – MARKET LEADING ENGINEERING BUSINESS – PACKAGE NEGOTIABLE

We are delighted to be partnering with a leading engineering client who operate on a national basis and boast a strong reputation for service excellence and reliability. They are seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to oversee and enhance their Service and Maintenance activities across all regions.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence:

  • Drive resource allocation to maximise utilization and minimise costs.
  • Ensure projects meet quoted costs and margins.
  • Oversee SMA renewals, effective account management and operational enhancements.
  • Lead compliance with ISO9001 and optimize digital tools for performance improvements.
  • Spearhead continuous improvements to streamline processes and create competitive advantages.

Financial Leadership:

  • Manage daily operational budgets to ensure profitability.
  • Collaborate with Finance to create and evaluate financial reports and improvements.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Service Delivery team (some office-based staff and field-based engineers)
  • Drive performance through coaching, recruitment, and succession planning.
  • Foster a growth-mindset culture where teams feel valued and empowered.
  • Ensure robust HR management, onboarding, training, and compliance with employment laws.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong background in operations management (Operations Manager, Service Delivery Manager)
  • Experience within service-led industries such as engineering or facilities
  • Technical mindset and the ability to communicate effectively in a technical setting (mechanical engineering)
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and deliver results.
  • Expertise in resource optimisation, operational efficiencies, and cost control.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and profitability.
  • Exceptional leadership, team-building and coaching capabilities.
  • Confident decision-maker with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
